SUN SHINING IT WAS FINALLY A BRIGHT DAY IN THE WORLD OF FIFTEEN YEAR OLD RYANNE. FINALLY THE YOUNG TEEN GOT A LESSON WITH A TEACHER AT THE SCHOOL. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE YOUNG GIRL WANTED TO TRAIN, ALL SHE EVER DID WAS TRAIN IN VANCOUVER, SHE WAS HOPING TO BE A YOUNG OLYMPIAN AND IF THAT WAS EVER GOING TO HAPPY, SHE NEEDED TO TRAIN AND TRAIN HARD. WEARING HER HIGH DRESSAGE BOOTS RYAN STEPPED INTO THE BARN OF THE RIDING ACADEMY, SHE FOUND HER GELDING JOVIAL’S STALL AND LET HERSELF INSIDE. GETTING HIM UNDRESSED FROM HIS SUMMER SHEET SHE THEN HALTERED AND BROUGHT HIM OUT INTO A SET OF CROSS TIES. BRUSHING THROUGH HIS LONG MANE AND TAIL FIRST AFTER TAKING THE LONG STRANDS OUT OF BRAIDS SHE PUT SOME CONDITIONER INTO THE THICK STRANDS. RUNNING HER HANDS OVER HER BLACK BREECHES QUICKLY SHE BRUSHED THE BAY GELDING DOWN HUMMING A QUIET TUNE, NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ANYTHING ELSE GOING ON IN THE BARN.
GOING TO THE TACK ROOM TO FIND HER TACK AND POLOS SHE MADE SURE SHE HAD HER HELMET, SPURS AND DRESSAGE WHIP WITH HER. SETTING THE THINGS SHE DIDN’T NEED DOWN SHE SET THE WHITE PAD ON THE GELDING’S BACK, FOLLOWING IT WITH A BEAUTIFUL BLACK DRESSAGE SADDLE. GETTING THE GIRTH ON AND DONE UP SLIGHTLY SHE STARTED ON THE WHITE POLO WRAPS, TAKING HER TIME TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE AS PERFECT AS SHE KNEW HOW TO DO THEM. GOING NOW TO GET HER SOFT TOUCH SPURS ATTACHED TO HER BOOTS SHE STRAPPED HER HELMET TO HER HEAD, HOLDING THE WHIP AND BLACK LEATHER BRIDLE IN HER HANDS. TAKING THE LEATHER AND CHROME PLATED HALTER OFF HIS DARK FACE THE SLIPPED THE SNAFFLE BIT INTO THE GELDING’S MOUTH, STRAPPING UP THE BRIDLE ONCE IT WAS IN ITS PLACE.
TAKING THE REINS AND WHIP IN HER HANDS SHE HEADED OUT TO THE OUTDOOR RING. ONCE INSIDE, SHE TIGHTENED UP THE GIRTH, FIXED HER STIRRUPS AND MOUNTING INTO THE SADDLE. SEEING THE GIRL ON THE ANADALUSIAN GELDING IT WAS EASY TO TELL THAT THE HORSE HAD MORE TRAINING THAN THE GIRL DID, SOMETHING SHE WAS WORKING TO WITH HER WELL TRAINED HORSES. WALKING THE BAY OUT SHE COLLECTED HER SEAT, IT WAS ONE THING SHE HAD SOLID, HER HANDS BEING HER BIGGEST FAULT, THOUGH LIGHT ON HIS FACE THE CUES THE GELDING WAS USED TO WASN’T ONE SHE HAD PERFECTED YET. WARMING UP THE BAY THEY WORKED AROUND THE ARENA FOR A BIT, WAITING FOR THE TRAINER TO SHOW UP, MAKING SURE THEY WERE WARMED UP AND READY BEFORE SHE GOT THERE. FINALLY MOVING INTO A NICE COLLECTION THEY MOVED FORWARD INTO A NICE EXTENDED TROT.

A smooth, fair skinned hand through a mass thick, auburn waves. A slender, but petite form sat up on the comfortable fairly sized mattress. She frowned from under the curtain of red-brown and tried to blow her bangs from her eyes. She pushed her hair back into place, revealing a pair of sleep hazed, blue-grey eyes. Why today of all days? It wasn't even time for the school year to start and yet a student had contacted her wanting lessons. She carefully raised her arms over her head, arching her back to stretch out all the muscles in her body. She let out a soft groan and slid off the bed. She made it soon after and left to take a quick shower to wake herself up. She had wanted to enjoy what spare time she had, relaxing. Though she couldn't refuse her duties as an instructor. Some sunshine would do her some good, she guessed.
Once she came out of the shower, she pulled out a casual outfit and her riding boots. She would have gone in shorts, but she would be working not riding bareback like she loved to. She had to dress the part. Once dressed, she brushed and blow dried her hair, pulling it into a messy ponytail, leaving some longer strands to frame her face. She applied some makeup and then moved to check on Finn. She made sure he had food and water and gave him few strokes on the back and scratched his ears. She wanted to take him, but he was young and didn't want him getting hurt by accidentally spooking a horse. "I"ll be home later, Love." She announced, calmly. Finn simply yipped and twirled in excited circles. She laughed and left her dorm.
She stepped out of the dorm building, heading for the barn. She stepped in, looking over each stall. She smiled and greeted the horses, not minding if they turned away or not. She focused on looking for her oldest horse. She found the large, liver chestnut stud grazing on a bucket of oats left in his stall. She smiled and reached out to lightly stroke his forehead. The stallion paused in grazing and pushed against her hand. She carefully opened the stall door and slipped in. She took the bridle off the hook before leading him by the halter out to the tack room. She fitted him with a pad and saddle, checking the girth before slipping off his bright red halter. She slipped on a black bridle, easing the bit into his mouth. She then lead him by the reins out of the barn.
Luxovius was one of her more behaved horses. Of the three, he was easier to work with. Between Saint being young and energetic and Sol being timid and hesitant. She casually stroked his nose, whispering soft words to him of praise. Upon coming to the outdoor ring, she watched as her assumed student of the day warmed up their gelding. She smiled and mounted Luxovius, nudging him into an easy walk. She stayed to one side as to not disrupt the warm ups. Her experienced eyes trained on the horse's movement as well as the girl's position in the saddle. "Well, Good Morning. How are you today? Everything's looking good so far." She spoke up in her light, sweet Irish accented voice. She moved Lux into an extended trot, following Ryanne's movements and to warm Luxovius up as well. All the while going over in her head the game plan for the day.

RYANNE’S EYES WATCHED AS A WOMAN CAME INTO THE ARENA WITH A HORSE OF HER OWN. NOT REALLY WHAT SHE WAS USED TO, BUT SHE WOULD GIVE IT A CHANCE. AT HOME IN VANCOUVER HER INSTRUCTOR WOULD STAND ON FOOT IN THE INSIDE OF THE ARENA, MOVING AROUND AS NEEDED. HER OLD TRAINER ALWAYS USED HER HANDS AND EXPLAINED THINGS, IT WAS HARD TO SEE HOW THIS WOMAN WOULD DO THAT WITH REINS IN HER HANDS. SHE GUESSED MAYBE SHE COULD SHOW HER THE SEAT, BUT IF SHE NEEDED TO GET OFF HER HORSE WOULD SHE BE DRAGGING THE STALLION ALONG? JOVIAL WASN’T EXACTLY A SOCIAL HORSE, SO BRINGING A STALLION NEXT TO HIM PROBABLY WASN’T A GOOD IDEA. ANOTHER RIDER IN THE ARENA, NOT AN ISSUES, BUT A STUD RIGHT CLOSE TO HIM WOULD PROBABLY BE AN ISSUE. ”MORNING.” RYANNE SPOKE, HER VOICE SHOWING NO REAL ACCENT TO HER, SHE WAS FROM VANCOUVER AND DIDN’T HEAR AND KIND OF ACCENT IN HER OWN VOICE, BUT THEN AGAIN, THE WOMAN PROBABLY DIDN’T HEAR AN IRISH ACCENT IN HER VOICE EITHER.
”I’M GOOD, THANK YOU FOR TRAINING WITH ME. I USUALLY TRAIN ALL YEAR ROUND AND BEING HERE WITH NO TRAINER HAS BEEN HARD. I GUESS THE EXTRA PAY COULD BE GOOD.” RYAN DIDN’T QUESTION THE AMOUNT HER AUNT WAS PAYING THE WOMAN, SHE KNEW IT WAS AT ANY COST THAT RYAN TRAINED ALL YEAR AND IT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO THE GIRL. SITTING DOWN AS SHE ASKED THE GELDING TO EXTEND OUT, GETTING HIM TO GIVE A BIT MORE IMPULSION IN HIS HINDQUARTER. A FEW STRIDES AND INTO A NICE COLLECTED CANTER. KEEPING TO HER SIDE OF THE ARENA SHE MADE A VERY SMALL SERPENTINE OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE ARENA, NOT ASKING HIM FOR A LEAD CHANGE BUT GETTING HIM TO COUNTER CANTER A FULL CIRCLE AROUND THE HALF OF THE ARENA. CONTINUING AROUND THE ARENA, COMPLETING AT LEAST ONE FULL CIRCLE BEFORE ASKING FOR A FLYING LEAD CHANGE AND ONTO THE CORRECT LEAD AND CONTINUING ON. TAKING A DEEP SIGH SHE COULDN’T REALLY WAIT FOR THINGS TO START, SLOWING THE ELEGANT BAY TO A WALK SHE WALKED HIM TO THE CENTER OF THE RING, KEEPING MORE TO THE SIDE SHE WAS ORIGINALLY ON, BLUE EYES WATCHING THE WOMAN.
”I’M RYAN BY THE WAY. I’M SURE MY AUNT TOLD YOU WHO I WAS WHEN SHE CONTACTED YOU.” HER WORDS SPOKE SOFTLY, THOUGH LOUD ENOUGH FOR THE OLDER WOMAN TO HEAR HER. LETTING THE REINS LOOSEN UP A BIT RYAN KEPT HER SEAT, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO HER, SOMETHING SHE WORKED ON ALL THE TIME, HER POSTURE. FOR SUCH A REBELLION TYPE GIRL DRESSAGE WAS SURE STRICT AND SHE STUCK TO IT LIKE GLUE. IT SEEMED THE ONE THING SHE WAS ABLE TO COMMIT TO AND REALLY LOVE WAS DRESSAGE AND HER HORSES. ”THIS IS JOVIAL, I CALL HIM JOVIE. I ALSO HAVE A MARE. I GUESS CHARLOTTE ALREADY TOLD YOU THE HORSES HAVE MORE TRAINING THAN I DO. DID SHE LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO WORK WITH THEM, SCHOOL THEM AT THEIR LEVEL SO THEY STAY IN THE BEST SHAPE THEY CAN?” THE GIRL QUESTIONED SOFTLY, STILL NOT SPEAKING TOO TERRIBLY LOUD. BLUE EYES WATCHING HER, LETTING JOVIE STRETCH OUT AND CATCH HIS BREATH, NOT LIKE HE HAD BEEN WORKING HARD.

Aislinn's methods of training may not have been like other trainers. She preferred to use her own horse as an example of what to and not to do. She preferred to show rather than tell. This was how she was taught and it was more effective. Though she was conscious of the fact that Ryanne's horse may not be comfortable with another stud. She was assured in the fact that Lux wasn't aggressive with other horses. He wasn't like Saint who wanted to engage every single horse he came across. She lightly patted Lux's neck and smiled when the stallion simply snorted and shook his head. She kept him at an easy pace, mirroring the motions of Ryanne's warm up.
She focused slowed Lux into an easy walk as she let him pace the ring, minding the gelding. Aislinn looked on in amusement as Ryanne began to ramble on. She didn't do this for the money. Though it was nice to have a paycheck now and then, she preferred to take her pay in being around horses. It reminded her of back home so she gained more comfort in that then knowing how much was in her pocket. She tilted her head and leaned a little on Luxovius, resting her arms on his neck. He never seemed to mind and kept his pace as if the weight hadn't been shifted. She nodded now and then, listening to the girl prattle on explaining everything. Private lessons had been something she never really participated in until she signed on to the school. Well being paid was new for her, she preferred to just teach anyone who needed it. A couple extra bills in her wallet sounded like a good enough reason to get out and work before school actually started.
She simply shrugged and lightly toyed with the reins. She slowed Lux to a complete stop, leaning back in the saddle. "Aye, she filled me in on everything. Pleasure to meet ya, Ryan. My name's Aislinn. I'm actually an instructor at the academy, not a simple trainer." She replied, casually letting her accent show more than normal. She closed her eyes and let the summer sun soak into her skin. She simply adored the summer season, the heat relaxed her and the cool breeze was an added comfort. She debated pulling her hair down, but she concentrated better with her hair out of her face. She mentally shrugged it off and moved Lux to walk closer. She could tell the horses were better trained in Dressage, it was in the gait and how he carried his head.
"Well, since you've had all this training. What would you need me for? The horse looks like he knows what he's doing? Did you just have questions?" She asked, calmly. She figured she'd start off by seeing what Ryanne needed help with before she went into any real drills. It'd be easier that way and it's how she usually taught her classes. Well she put the basics first, but this was a private lesson and everyone had a different style and pace of learning. She lightly hummed to herself, keeping Lux moving so the heat of the sun didn't get to him and made sure he got exercise as well.

RYANNE STAYED SITTING IN THE SADDLE ON THE BACK OF THE BAY GELDING. SHE WATCHED THE WOMAN WARM UP HER HORSE AND TALK. INTRODUCING HERSELF AS AISLINN. RYAN COULD TELL THE WOMAN WASN’T FROM AROUND THE AREA, BUT NEITHER WAS SHE SO IT DIDN’T MATTER MUCH. IT DIDN’T MATTER WHERE THE WOMAN CAME FROM AS LONG AS SHE WAS GOOD. ”WELL AISLINN, I’M NOT AT THE LEVEL THIS HORSE IS. I’M TRAINING LEVEL THREE AND FOUR RIGHT NOW SO WE NEED A LOT OF WORK TO GET UP TO AN FEI LEVEL. JOVIE AND DORA BOTH GET VERY UPSET WHEN I DON’T GET THE CUES QUITE RIGHT; I NEED A LOT OF WORK PERFECTING THEM. THEY ALSO WILL NEED PRACTICE WITH YOU TO KEEP THEM AT THEIR LEVELS AND CONTINUE WORKING ON THINGS I CAN’T ASK OF THEM.” THE YOUNG GIRL SPOKE QUIETLY AND LOOKED AT THE WOMAN.
DID SHE SERIOUS JUST QUESTION WHY RYAN NEEDED A TRAINER? TO GET BETTER, OBVIOUSLY.”I NEED A TRAINER TO GET BETTER, I NEED TO REACH THE HIGHEST LEVEL I CAN.” HER WORDS SPOKE A BIT MORE DEFINITE NOW. IT WAS CLEAR SHE HAD A GOAL, SHE HAD SET IT HIGH. THE ONLY THING SHE’D SET HIGH FOR HERSELF WAS RIDING AND DRESSAGE. WITH A FUSS FROM THE BAY GELDING RYAN NUDGED HIM, LETTING HIM WALK ON A LOOSE REIN. BLUE EYES STARING OUT FROM UNDER HER HELMET IN THE DIRECTION SHE WAS PLANNING TO GO. RYAN RODE RATHER SERIOUSLY, EVEN WITH A LOOSE REIN. HER SEAT NEVER STRAYED TOO FAR FROM AS PERFECT AS SHE COULD GET IT, CLEARLY SHE PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO IN TO THIS. RYAN’S WHOLE LIFE REVOLVED SOLELY AROUND THE TWO ANDALUSIANS. HER FATHER PAID A LOT OF MONEY TO KEEP HER OUT OF HIS HAIR AND THE ONE THING THIS TEEN CLEARLY TOOK SERIOUSLY WAS RIDING THE TWO HORSES. THEY BOTH HAD TALENT, SO DID RYAN, BUT BEING SO YOUNG THE GIRL WAS CLEARLY JUST NOT THERE YET.

Aislinn wasn't entirely sure what to think. Luxovius let out a low snort and began to pace back and forth, clearly a little restless. Aislinn kept him in a simple walk as she listened to Ryanne speak. The girl was clearly confident in her skills. She had high goals, goals that seemed a bit too high for someone of her age. Being a freshman at the academy, one couldn't expect to simply go off and be an Olympic rider right off hand. Aislinn never was one to get angry so easily, maybe a little peeved but never angry. She never rose her voice to a student and tried her best to focus on keeping her calm. This girl was starting to weigh on a nerve that clearly had been sensitive. She could admire someone being confident and wanting to be the best and work hard for it. Though the way she spoke, she sounded like she wanted to be out there in the Olympics after one session.
Running a hand through her bangs, pushing them from her face, she slowed Luxovius to a stop once more. Closer to the restless gelding the girl owned. She knew the girl had a lot of practice. She could see that in her posture and how she worked with the horse. Something told her she was getting in over her head. Aislinn had experience as a trainer for some people, but she was first and foremost an Instructor. Not some trainer that could be seen as lower than the pupil and ordered around. "Alright, I can help you work on your cues. But we need to take this one at a time. I understand you want to get better, but we need to settle down. I know you're probably anxious, but I don't think I can honestly deal with this attitude of your's for long." She replied, her voice gaining a slight edge to it.
She watched the girl, carefully. She didn't want to snap at her, but she needed to set the girl straight. She was obviously a pampered child who was used to getting what she wanted. Aislinn could see that much off hand. A girl playing with daddy's money and wanting the world to bow at her feet. She heaved a bone weary sigh and patted Luxovius' neck to comfort him as he paced. The gelding was picking up on his rider's temper. "I may be getting paid well for being a trainer, but I'll have you know I am not just a trainer. I am also an Instructor at this academy. I will be treated with respect. Not pushed around." She added after a moment. She debated just calling it quits, but that would mean that she would win and she was going to teach this girl some manners. Aislinn wasn't as privileged, she grew up in a rural town to a middle class family that worked to get what they needed. She honestly couldn't stand rich kids who thought others were beneath them.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she nodded her head toward her gelding. "Alright, how about we run through some moves and see where you're having problems with the cues. Let me see a Piaffe." She replied, her voice more even now, though the faintest edge of her temper still there. She would not tolerate her own student talking in such a manner to her. Rolling her shoulders, she adjusted her seat and kept her posture up. She nudged Lux into a casual walk as she circled the girl and her horse, watching every angle to make sure the girl performed the move properly.

RYANNE KNEW HER GOALS WERE HIGH. THOUGH THOSE WERE THE ONLY GOALS SHE HAD EVER REALLY SET FOR HERSELF. SURE SHE SOUNDED LIKE SHE COULD BECOME GREAT OVERNIGHT BUT SHE KNEW THE HARD WORK IT TOOK. THE YEARS IT TOOK HER TO GET RIGHT WHERE SHE IS NOW, SHE NEEDED A LOT MORE WORK AND TRAINING. WALKING JOVIE CLOSE TO AISLINN AND HER HORSE, BUT FAR ENOUGH AWAY THAT THE BAY GELDING DIDN’T PUT UP A HUGE FUSS ABOUT BEING CLOSE TO ANOTHER ANIMAL SHE LISTENED TO THE WOMAN TALK. MAYBE RYANNE HAD WORDED EVERYTHING WRONG, BECAUSE IT SEEMED THAT THE WOMAN WAS ANGRY WITH HER ALREADY. GREAT WAY TO START HER FIRST LESSON. THE FIFTEEN YEAR OLD’S EYES DROPPED, SHE SHOULDN’T HAVE SOUNDED COCKY. THOUGH SHE COULDN’T FIGURE OUT THE HUGE DEAL, SHE’D SPOKEN SOFTLY AND CALMLY AND TRIED NOT TO SOUND LIKE A SPOILED RICH KID, BUT IT WAS CLEAR, SHE DID.
HER HEAD NODDED SLIGHTLY, EYES DROPPING FOR A MOMENT BEFORE LOOKING BACK UP AT WHERE SHE WAS GOING. ”SORRY.” HER VOICE WAS QUIET, SHE COULDN’T RUIN THE ONE THING SHE HAD GOING FOR HER. SHE NEEDED A TRAINER, SHE COULDN’T PISS THIS ONE OFF TOO MUCH. IT WASN’T THAT THE GIRL WANTED TO WORLD TO BOW TO HER, BUT SHE DIDN’T REALLY KNOW HOW TO ACT WITH PEOPLE. THIS WAS JUST PROVING HER PEOPLE SKILLS REALLY SUCKED. ”YES MA’AM. SORRY.” SHE GIRL SPOKE QUIETLY AGAIN SHE DIDN’T MEAN TO DISRESPECT HER, BUT SHE REALLY NEEDED TO WATCH WHAT SHE SAID AROUND HERE. THIS WASN’T HOME WITH HER THE PEOPLE SHE USED TO CALL FRIENDS AND THE PEOPLE WHO USED TO TRAIN HER. THIS WAS ALL NEW AND SHE SIMPLY FROM THERE NEEDED TO KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT. ASIDE FROM BEING SPOILED RYANNE WAS A QUIET GIRL AND AISLINN WOULD SEE THAT FROM HER FROM NOW ON.
NODDING HER HEAD AS HER INSTRUCTOR SPOKE AGAIN SHE PICKED HERSELF UP, WIDENING HER SHOULDERS A BIT. USING DIAGONAL AIDS SHE HAD LEARNT SHE ASKED THE GELDING INTO A PIAFFE. USING THE WHIP TO HER ADVANTAGE TO HELP HER SHE LIFTED HER HEAD HIGH. TRYING TO LOOK AS CONFIDENT AS SHE HAD ACTED SHE SAT QUIETLY. THE GELDING WAS COLLECTED NICELY, STARTING IN WITH EASE. JOVIE KNEW THE DRILL, THOUGH WHEN HER HANDS GOT SLIGHTLY BACKWARDS HIS HEAD TOSSED AND HE PULLED OUT OF THE MOVEMENT. THEY LOST IT, THE GELDING TAKING A FEW TROTTING STEPS FORWARD BEFORE THE GIRL TRIED AGAIN. HER LEGS SEEMED TO BE DOING EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED, BUT A BIT UPSET SHE COULDN’T SEEM TO GET HER HANDS RIGHT AND WITHOUT HER HANDS PERFECT THE GELDING AFTER A FEW SUCCESSFUL STEPS BROKE OUT AND FLICKED HIS TAIL. FINALLY STOPPING THE GIRL DROPPED HER EYES. THE GIRL THOUGH DISCIPLINED IN RIDING GOT FLUSTERED EASILY AND GIVING THE GELDING POOR CUES MEANT HE DIDN’T PERFORM TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY, LEAVING THE TEEN A BIT MORE FLUSTERED. STOPPING HIM SHE COLLECTED HERSELF UP AGAIN, WAITING FOR THE RESPONSE FROM HER TEACHER, HALF EXPECTING A BIT OF ANGER.
