Bradan had gotten up bright and early, taking the time to get a few things done around his new house before he headed into his bedroom to get dressed. He didn't really plan on doing any riding today, so he simply put on a pair of faded blue jeans, white tee and a pair of work boots. A low whistle erupted from his lips as he moved about, collecting his cellphone and his keys. Not much longer after he whistled, a large saint bernard came trotting up too him, his tail wagging excitedly when Bradan got the dog's leash. Clipping it to his collar, the older male then set out toward the exit of his home, although his girlfriend stopped him on his way. "Heading to the barn?" She asked curiously with a sweet smile as she placed her hands gently on his chest. He gave a nod and placed a light kiss on her forehead. "Yes, going to check on Dancer and the boys, I should be back soon. You don't mind that I'm taking Rufus, right? Figured he could use the fresh air." The petite blonde shook her head in response.
After saying his goodbyes to the girl whom he was housing with he ducked out the front door and walked over to his truck, dropping the tailgate so the large dog plodding along side him could hop up inside. Shutting the tailgate he then got into the driver side door and fired up the engine to his dodge. Turning on the radio, thoughts rolled around through his head as he navigated his way down the streets of Rosedale, a soft smile displaying itself on his features when he'd caught site of the Academy he'd be working for. After finding a place to park, he easily found his way to the barn, humming under his breath softly on the way. He figured by now, after being locked up in their stalls all night, that his horses wouldn't mind being turned out in one of the pastures for a little while.
As he walked up the isle of one of the barns, Rufus sniffed about along side him curiously, his ears perked forward. Having decided to take Rebel and Clover out first, he collected both of their lead shanks and made his way over to Rebel's stall first. At the sound of his owners' soft voice, the gelding perked up his ears and hung his over the stall door, greeting Bradan with a soft nicker. Murmuring under his breath to the horse he slipped into the stall, giving the gelding a gentle yet firm pat on the neck before leading him out. Rebel, despite being anxious to get out, plodded along easily next to his owner, respecting his space as the two walked. It wasn't long before the horse was happily jogging the fence line of a pasture and his owner had set off back toward the barns, on his way to fetch Clover now.
Rufus still stuck to his owners' side like glue as the two once again entered one of the barn isles, down the isle off to the left Bradan could already see the head of his two year old colt, the horse let out an anxious whinny and his owner could hear the sound of the animal pawing. Rolling his eyes a little Bradan finally reached the horses' stall and clipped a lead shank to his halter, unlike Rebel, Clover pranced along side his owner, testing the man's strength by crowding him and pulling forward on his halter in an anxious way. Scolding the horse quietly under his breath he gave one firm tug down on the rope in his hand to get the horses' attention. "Ay, if you don't behave mister, you won't be getting any treats later." Bradan murmured under his breath and the horses ears flickered to listen and he let out a snort, almost as if he understood his owners' words.
Finally the two reached the same pasture that Rebel was now frolicking in, and the second he unclipped the lead shank from Clover's halter, the horse hightailed it to the far end of the pasture. Watching with thoughtful eyes, Bradan climbed up onto the top rail of the fence and sat there, his eyes following the younger of the two horses as he ran laps, it was clear the young stud was feeling energetic for it took several minutes before he finally started to settle down and took his place next to Rebel grazing, towering over the gelding by a few inches. Bradan made a mental note to take Dancer out once these two had had their fun, but as of that moment he wasn't about to leave Clover unattended, the horse was quite known for being a troublemaker and despite Rebel making quite a decent babysitter for the other horse, Bradan still didn't trust the two by themselves in a new place just yet. So for now, he didn't plan on going anywhere until he was sure that the horses weren't going to do anything stupid.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEAislinn had woke up that morning, wanting nothing more than to relax. She had taken to giving private lessons and it was wearing more on her than she expected. Least it got her outside and working with horses, especially her own. So it wasn't a complete waste in her mind. She had awoken to her sweet little Brittany puppy, Finn curled up on her stomach. She smiled and scratched behind his ear. The puppy had simply yawned and blinked up at her. She carefully moved the puppy aside and sat up. She checked the time and shrugged, deciding she didn't want to spend the day sleeping or lying around. It was a beautiful day and she wanted nothing more than to go out and enjoy the sunshine. She slipped out of the bed and stumbled over to her dresser.
She decided to dress casually. She didn't plan on riding her horses that day, but if it came to it she could always go bareback. She was used to riding bareback back home with some of her father's more gentler horses. She hummed to herself as she slipped into a loose, but comfortable outfit. She then brushed out her hair, deciding to leave it down so it fell down and around her shoulders. She applied a small amount of makeup and went to grab Finn's leash. She figured she'd take him out for a walk so he can exercise and enjoy the day with her. She would turn out her horses into the pasture so they could have fun as well. Being cooped up in the barn probably wasn't very fun with the sun shining outside. Decision made, she finished getting ready, slipping into a pair of sandals. She then picked Finn up and left her dorm.
She made her way out of the building and out toward the barn. She could see the pasture further out and smiled, seeing some others have let their horses out to roam as well. She carefully set Finn down and let him walk ahead of her, keeping a hold on his leash to keep him close. He still wasn't sure how to react around the horses, so she kept him close. She opened the barn doors and moved to the isle where her horses were stalled. She smiled and greeted all three of her horses. She kept Finn close to her and surprisingly he stayed right by her feet as she pulled the stall door open. First she brought out Lux, her calmest. She then lead him out a side door into the pasture before going back for Sol and Saint. Once all three were out in the pasture, she left the barn, watching as Finn pulled against his lead, wanting to run around too.
She gave the leash some slack, so he could move further out, but she didn't let him go just yet. She moved to the fence lining the pastures and keeping the horses inside. She watched as Saint took off to find another horse to play with. Lux lumbered off to graze and Sol remained close to Lux, reverting to her more timid self. She breathed in, taking in the warm, fresh smell of summer. She let out the air in a long, content sigh as she leaned her arms on the fence. She had didn't notice the man standing not far away by the pasture until Finn began to tug more earnestly at his leash. She glanced down at the puppy, then followed his line of sight. The man had a large Saint Bernard. She was a bit unsure of how to handle it and resolved to give a light tug to Finn's leash to reprimand him. She didn't feel comfortable having a larger dog around Finn since he tended to be a bit too eager and some dogs could be aggressive and not as patient with a puppy.
Finn had been distracted for the moment by a passing bug and turned to follow it as far as his leash would allow. Aislinn merely sighed and watched the horses roam around the pasture, keeping an eye out for her own. She hummed to herself as she toyed with a small silver four leaf clover charm on her bracelet. She always wore the silver charm bracelet wherever she went. It was a gift from her mother when she was younger. It had a few charms on it, a small 'A' for her name, a horseshoe for her love of horses, the four leaf clover-which she would never admit to anyone was her favorite, and a heart shaped padlock with a matching key. She rubbed her thumb over the clover, a habit she had developed over the years. The charm was given to her by someone she never thought she'd ever see again. It was for good luck when she left for America. She let out a small sigh, this time stemming from her sudden downtrodden mood. She mentally shook it off and focused on the horses to cheer her up. No sense dwelling on the past.

Bradan had become quite deeply lost in thought as he sat atop the white fencing, his saint bernard snoozing below him. His eyes followed his horses as they roamed the pasture, Clover had trailed off on his own now, deserting his friend to make friends with a mare in a neighboring pasture. Keeping even closer of watch on his horse now, Bradan rolled his eyes when Clover let out a playful squeal and ran along the fence with his new friend before trotting up to his owner, butting his head playfully into the older males' chest. Chuckling lightly, Bradan tightened his grip on the fence to stay balanced before reaching up and gently stroking Clover's elegant head. Playing with the stud's forelock, once again the male became absorbed in his thoughts, everything but him and his horses seeming to melt around him, leaving only the trio left in the world at that moment in time.
It wasn't until his Saint Bernard stirred and stood from where he slept that Bradan snapped back to reality, he looked down at the dog before clicking his tongue at Clover, shooing the pushy colt away for the time being as he hopped down from the fence, grabbing a hold of Rufus' leash as soon as he caught the dog's gaze. The Saint Bernard had spotted the new girl leading her horses toward the same pasture that held Bradan's and the dog took a slight interest in the puppy that moved alongside its' owner. Murmuring quiet words beneath his breath to Rufus, Bradan got the dog's attention once again and ruffled his fur with a grin. Returning his gaze back out to the pasture, he watched Clover closely as he bit his lip, he wasn't sure how the two year old would take to the new comers entering the pasture, so the man kept his eye open for any sign of there being an issue.
He was just about to pull a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, get one out and light one up before he realized that the owner of the other horses in the pasture was standing nearby, placing the pack back in his pocket he decided not to be rude, considering the fact that the smell of smoke often bothered some people. Rufus let out a low whine, obviously wanting to greet the strange dog, but Bradan didn't agree with this at the moment, tugging gently on the dog's leash to get his attention focused back elsewhere. Returning his gaze out to the pasture he chewed on his lip in a nervous way as Clover trotted his way over to one over the new comers, tossing his head anxiously. He wished to play, and Bradan found himself worrying about what would happen if the other equine didn't wish to play as well. Sighing a little he made sure to keep a close eye on them all, but he couldn't help but glance at the girl who stood by the fence not far off from himself every now and again.
It wasn't until he caught a glimpse of the charm bracelet, the sun hitting the four leaf clover just the right way to make it stick out, that he found himself more interested in the girl all of a sudden. Tilting his head in a curious manner he bit his lip, pondering whether or not to introduce himself. Heck, he had to make friends at some point, yes? Drawing in a deep breath his chest visibly rose then fell as he let out the air in his lungs once more. He kept Rufus close to his side as he walked over, stopping to lean against the fence only a foot or two off from where she stood, clearing his throat quietly. "Nice looking horses you've got there." He murmured in a friendly tone, his Irish accent a bit strong, though not quite as strong as it used to be when he'd actually lived in Ireland. His eyes caught glimpse of the four leaf clover charm once more and his brows furrowed a little, curiosity striking his bright blue eyes. A couple of the other charms on the bracelet even appeared familiar, but for the time being he brushed it off, adverting his eyes back to the pasture.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEAislinn had spaced out, simply watching the horses as they interacted. She took in the warm summer sun, shifting now and then so her feet wouldn't get tired from having all her weight placed on them. Finn was busy chasing every bug that caught his eye at her feet. He was doing well with not straying too far. Though in the back of her mind she remained conscious of the man not far off and his larger dog. She reached up and raked her fingers through her thick auburn hair, pushing her bangs from her face. She closed her eyes and simply let the sun warm her skin. She listened to all the little noises like the trees rustling, the horses whinnying and galloping around. She enjoyed her time off. She could relax and take everything in, not that she disliked her job. She just needed some of what they called "me" time.
She slowly opened her eyes, tracking down her horses, finding that a younger horse had come to check out her horses. Saint had been the first to greet the younger, of course. Lux didn't seem at all phased by the new comer. Sol had moved in to greet the young colt as well. She smiled, watching them and glanced toward the man. He seemed to be watching them as well, making her wonder if the young colt was his. She let her hand slip from the charm bracelet, realizing she had been holding the the clover out, isolating it from the other charms. She kept her gaze on the horses, glancing down to check on Finn. He had turned his attention back on the larger dog a few feet away. She watched him, but he didn't make a move toward the other canine. She was almost thankful for that.
She looked back forward a moment. Then she picked up on footsteps off to the side. She glanced out the corner of her eye and noticed the man was moving closer. She felt herself tense up a bit, unsure of what his motives were. She quickly squashed her sudden nervousness and let herself relax. Hopefully he hadn't noticed her brief panic attack. She glanced down to check on Finn, who was now tugging at his leash, trying to inspect the larger saint bernard. She smiled and gave a small tug to reprimand him again. "No, no, Love. You can't be bothering dogs you don't know." She spoke, camly. Her voice hinted with an Irish accent that had been muted over the years, but still traceable. She glanced up as the man spoke. She was sure her eyes lit up at the sound of a familiar accent. It was nice to meet another from her home country.
"Thanks. Looks like you got a handsome stud in the making over there. Looks like a handful." She replied, casually. She reached up and brushed some hair behind her ear. She smiled and watched as Saint attempted to play with the colt. She absently adjusted the bracelet on her wrist, having felt it fall down her arm when she raised it. She glanced down at the charms lining the bracelet, letting a small smile play on her lips. "Is he your only one?" She asked, referring to the colt. With all the horses in one pasture, it was hard to tell who's was who's unless you watched or asked. She watched as Finn edged closer to the saint bernard, she frowned, unsure of what to do. The dog didn't seem aggressive, but one could never be too sure, so she simply kept a firm grip on his leash, just in case.

He really couldn't help but notice the way she seemed to tense up a little as he neared her, which caused him to instinctively back off a few steps, he hadn't meant to make her comfortable by any means. Biting his lip, his nerves didn't settle until she appeared to relax again, then slowly he started to settle also, not that he had really appeared unsettled to begin with. As he leaned against the fence he watched the horses closely, Clover nipping playfully at the other who seemed to be willing to play, but the stud was careful to keep his teeth to himself, only catching air between his teeth. Relieved that it seemed they were getting along alright, a sigh of relief escaped Bradan's mouth as he rubbed his chin for a moment, the act reminding himself to shave later at the feeling of the light scruff that shadowed his jawline.
A low, playful whine erupted from his saint bernard, making the male look over at the dog as Rufus wagged his tail, trying to get to the much smaller pup, yet Bradan kept him close still. At hearing the faint Irish accent tangled with the girls' words that she spoke he couldn't help the slight smile that tugged at the corner of his lips, despite the slightly homesick feeling that settled in his stomach. Though after a few moments of his mind being caught up on the accent, a certain old friend crossed his mind and he quickly adverted his eyes from the girl again, the softest of sighs escaping his lips. Aislinn... the name rang in his thoughts, God it'd been a long time since he'd thought about her. Forcing the thoughts back though he mustered up a slight smile onto his features again and glanced back over at the girl. "Rufus won't bite, he's quite gentle actually." He said reassuringly, as if letting her know that it would be okay for her pup to greet the other dog.
"Oh, a handful indeed. Got him in training right now, still a pushy little guy though, needs some manners taught to him for sure." He noted with a grin as he admired his colt from the distance, he loved the little booger, and he knew he was a little to soft on him at times, which didn't help the horses' manner issues one bit. His eyes absentmindedly fell back onto her charm bracelet, once again his old friend entering the back of his mind, he studied it for a short moment before looking up to the girls' face, taking in her features. "Oh no, definitely not my only. He's the baby of the bunch though. The paint out there is mine too, and I've got a mare up in the barn that I have yet to turn out." He explained in a soft tone, his Irish accent still tangled up in his words as he spoke, and as he studied her features he couldn't help but think she seemed ever so slightly familiar, but he was quick to brush off the thought.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEAislinn glanced toward the Saint Bernard a moment. She seemed almost unsure, but if he said it'd be fine, she'd trust him. She loosened her hold on Finn's leash, letting the puppy toddle over to the larger dog to check them out. She smiled as Finn trotted over and sat in front of the Saint Bernard, apparently named Rufus and sniffed him. She knew Finn could be rambunctious and would keep an eye on him if he started to cause too many problems. She glanced back up at the man and smiled, sheepishly. "Sorry, Finn tends to be a bit energetic and some dogs do not tolerate him." She replied, quietly. She had only had Finn for about a month or two and she had socialized him before and ended up causing problems with other dogs who simply did not want to play with him.
She looked back out at the pasture, watching Saint interact with the smaller stallion. She found herself toying with her charm bracelet again. The clover charm not only was a reminder of her childhood friend, but her home back in Ireland. She hadn't been back in years since her family moved, but she still missed it terribly. She briefly wondered how he was doing. Did he still think about her like she did him. Brushing it off she gently brushed her fingers over the small clover and sighed. She felt a deep sense of homesickness as she listened to him talk. Ireland was her home no matter where she went. America was so much more different, but she didn't mind it at all. She followed his gaze and looked over to where their horses had gathered. She spotted the paint that he claimed as his and couldn't help but smile. The paint looked almost identical to Saint.
He seems well behaved right now. Though mine can get along with any horse they encounter. Though with some training I'm sure he'd be one of the best out there. I'm sure of it." She replied, biting her lip in a nervous fashion. She had always had a hard time with the opposite gender. She hoped he didn't mind or even tell she was nervous. She tried to stay as relaxed as possible."All mine are out there. The other two paints nearby and the solid chestnut are mine. A stallion, a gelding and a mare. A pretty good bunch, even if the stallion is a bit of a handful." She explained, casually gesturing to each of her horses. She reached up and pushed the hair behind her ear again, having had it fall out when she moved her head.
She took comfort in the familiar Irish accent. Though his was clearly muted like her's, she still picked up on it. It made her feel homesick but also more comfortable. She was still trying to get used to all the accents in America, so finding another similar to her was a relief. She glanced down to check on Finn, who was jumping around and whining playfully, trying to engage the Saint Bernard in play. She smiled and absently licked her lips that suddenly went dry. "So, are you an Instructor at this school or...a stable hand maybe?" She asked, casually. Attempting to make small talk. She wasn't really sure what to ask to keep the silence from overwhelming her. She secretly just wanted to keep him talking. It was weird but she liked his accent.
She glanced up at him from the corner of her eyes. She took in his features, suddenly realizing that he looked a little familiar. Though she was sure she was just seeing things. She found her thoughts reverting back to her old friend and she let out a small sigh. She dropped the clover charm from her grip, trying to not let her emotions show. She didn't want him to think she was upset in any way and think it was his fault. She just couldn't keep control of her train of thought. She brushed it off and played with her horseshoe charm to take her mind of it and help calm her down. She wasn't sure why her thoughts kept getting away from her and she tried her best to keep them in check.

Bradan watched as his Saint Bernard whined and tugged on the leash as the other canine approached him, smiling to himself he eased up a little on the older dogs' leash but still kept a firm hold for safety reasons, not because he thought Rufus would cause problems. Crouching down onto his forepaws, Rufus wiggled his haunches in the air, his tail wagging as he nipped carefully at the other dog, being careful at the same time it was obvious he wanted to play. At hearing the girls' words, Bradan glanced up and nodded in an understanding manner with a soft smile. He understood how that was, considering when Rufus was a puppy he was quite playful, and not everyone exactly wanted to play with an over sized beast, despite how gentle the Saint Bernard was, as well as having a very sweet nature.
Once he was sure Rufus and the pup were alright, he completely relaxed his grip on the leash and moved his eyes back out to the pasture, watching the horses carefully, that soft smile of his still spread across his features. Drawing in a deep breath he leaned against the white fence casually, watching as Clover snorted and trotted off, hoping for the other colt to follow as he kicked up his heels in a playful manner. Occasionally he found himself glancing back down to the girls' bracelet, he still felt that ache of familiarity and the curiosity inside him was building slowly. He wanted to ask about it, yet he didn't feel like it was his place to ask. Biting the inside of his cheek when he caught himself once again staring at the clover charm, he forced his eyes away once more and back to the dogs, then the horses.
When he heard her speak in response to his own speech, he glanced over at her and relaxed at the sound of her fainted accent. As she spoke his eyes flickered out back to the pasture and he gave a slight nod to her words, as if agreeing with her. "I've got some plans for him, his mother is my mare up in the barn, I've had her for quite awhile now, one of the best horses I've ever had." He said softly, smiling as he spoke fondly of his mare, he loved her to death and was happy to be training her foal, he was rather pleased with his decision he'd made to breed her. As he glanced back over at the girl, he couldn't help but notice the way she bit her lip, it made him feel a bit concerned, silently wondering if he had been making her feel uncomfortable in some way, and he almost felt the need to back off and walk away, even if he didn't necessarily want to.
His eyes moved to scan over each of her horses as he rubbed his chin in a thoughtful manner, he was slowly beginning to relax again because Aislinn appeared to be a bit more comfortable by now to him, even if she really wasn't. He smiled a little, his eyes continuing to look over her horses from head to hoof then he cleared his throat to voice his approval. "They are a beautiful bunch, Clover seems to be delighted by the fact at least one of them is willing to play." He chuckled softly and as he spoke his eyes once again grazed over his own stud, the horse still happily playing with the others while Rebel seemed more interested in the grass beneath his hooves as he munched at the green source of nutrition.
Casually Bradan turned his back to the pasture to lean against the fence and give the girl he was speaking to more of his attention, as well as the dogs that were now trying to play. The much larger Saint Bernard happily began to engage in play with the smaller puppy, but he was careful with his teeth and paws, being sure to play nicely and not harm the smaller canine. Bradan, seeming content with how the dogs were interacting moved his eyes back up to the girl, his eyes falling to her lips for a short moment as she licked them, then he studied her features for a short moment before looking over his shoulder at the horses just for a quick second to be sure Clover wasn't causing any harm. He nodded slightly at her question, just about to ask the same one for himself before she had seemingly beat him to it. "Yeah, Cross Country instructor." He replied with a soft smile, "and you, love?"
His words were murmured casually, but he found himself looking down as his cheeks flushed slightly, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked up once more. "Sorry, the word sort of slipped, it's become a habit of mine over time." He muttered quietly with a sheepish smile, his cheeks a little red, but the redness was slowly fading as he began relaxed once more. His eyes flickered about casually as he studied his surroundings, and after a few moments he found his eyes returning to her charm bracelet once again, his curiosity slowly but surely getting the better of him as he cleared his throat. "It's funny... That clover charm on your bracelet, I couldn't help but notice it looks greatly familiar. Gave one to a friend just like it a few years back." His voice was soft and his eyes continued to observe the small charm for a short moment before he let them travel up to meet her own orbs.
